|---|---|---|
| Bitcoin | $1.70T | 59.18% |

The crypto market cap is the sum of all coins’ market caps: price times circulating supply. It is the main gauge of overall direction: rising means money is coming into the market, falling means it is leaving.
Bitcoin usually accounts for more than half of the total and stablecoins, whose price does not move, for a noticeable part. That is why the market cap excluding bitcoin shows demand for altcoins more accurately.
How to read it
Compare with volume
Market cap growth on rising volume is more durable than on a thin market.
Look at the composition
If growth comes from bitcoin alone, altcoins do not confirm it.
Account for stablecoins
Inflows into stablecoins raise the market cap, but that money is not yet invested in coins.
