What arrives when the screener fires

One firing, two shapes. The messenger gets the short form: pair, window, venue and numbers. Preset logic

Logic: the fastest open interest spikes — +5% in five minutes, meaning many new positions opened in a short time. The $10m turnover floor filters out thin pairs, where a spike like that means nothing. At most one alert per coin every half hour: this is the most frequent OI scenario.

Logic: open interest up 20% over four hours — positions built up steadily rather than in one burst. The floors keep only large caps: open interest from $20M, turnover from $50M. At most one alert per coin in 12 hours.

Preset logic

Logic: base OI trigger is off — only divergence fires. OI rising while price falls means new positions are opening into the drop. OI falling while price rises means the rise comes from positions being closed. 30-min window, OI ≥ 5%, price ≥ 1%; open interest from $5M, turnover from $10M.

Logic: two scenarios in one preset. The base 8% / 15 min scenario marks sharp OI spikes; the divergence layer (60 min, OI ≥ 4%, price ≥ 1.5%) marks slower mismatches between OI and price. Two scenarios easily stack into a series on one coin, so the cap is one alert per two hours.

Frequently asked questions

What is open interest in crypto futures?

Open interest (OI) is the number of open futures contracts on a pair. Rising OI means new positions are opening; falling OI means positions are closing. Read together with price, it shows what drives a move: fresh money or positions being closed.

How quickly does the screener notice an OI change?

Every 60 seconds the screener pulls fresh OI from 9 exchanges and re-evaluates your rule. End-to-end you typically see the notification 4 seconds after the change crosses your threshold (2 seconds to sweep, then analysis and delivery).

Can I limit alerts to specific coins?

Yes. Each preset has a minimum open interest and turnover — raise them and only large caps will reach you. You can also limit the screener to your favourite coins and turn off exchanges you don't trade on in General settings.

What % threshold makes sense for scalping vs swing?

Scalping: 5% over 5–15 minutes on small/mid caps catches early impulses. Swing: 15–20% over 1–4 hours on majors catches confirmed trend builds. Start with the bundled "Scalp on early interest" and "Trend confirmation" presets and tune from there.

Why does OI grow without price moving?

Because traders are stacking positions on both sides — usually shorts piling in while longs hold, or vice versa. That is the squeeze-setup pattern (OI ↑, price flat or down): pressure is building without resolution. The screener flags it via the OI/price divergence preset.
