The calculator performs an arithmetic estimate based on the values you enter and is not investment advice. Exact contract parameters are set by each exchange — check its specification.

How it is calculated

Quantity = (Deposit × Risk%) / |Entry − Stop|

The calculation starts from risk, not from a desired size: first the amount you accept losing on the trade is fixed (a share of the deposit), then it is divided by the distance from entry to stop-loss. The resulting size guarantees that a triggered stop removes exactly the chosen share of the deposit — no matter how volatile the coin is.

The position notional can exceed the deposit — that is normal for futures and means leverage is needed to open the trade: the “notional to deposit” row shows how much. The reward-to-risk ratio (R:R) is computed from the distances to take-profit and stop-loss and does not include fees or slippage.

FAQ

What is risk per trade?

The share of the deposit lost if the stop-loss triggers. Sizing from a fixed risk equalizes losses across trades: a volatile coin gets a smaller size, a calm one a larger size.

How does the calculator detect the trade side?

From the stop-loss placement: a stop below the entry price means a long, above it — a short. The take-profit is checked for consistency with the side.

What does the R:R ratio show?

The ratio of potential profit to the take-profit against the potential loss to the stop-loss. For example, 3:1 means the distance to the take is three times the distance to the stop. Fees and slippage are not included.
