MACD bullish momentum — histogram above zero
The MACD line — the difference between the 12- and 26-day exponential averages — runs above its nine-day signal line. The histogram, the gap between the two, is positive.
Signal criteria
Histogram
MACD above the signal line on daily candles. The list is sorted from the highest histogram
Zone
MACD line below zero — momentum is only turning; above zero — it confirms a rally already under way
What it means
Short-term momentum points up. MACD reacts faster than moving averages but is noisier too. The dynamics matter more than the sign: growing bars mean acceleration, shrinking bars while price rises mean the move is weakening.
Common mistakes
- In a sideways market the histogram flips sign almost every week
- MACD values are in price units, so they cannot be compared between an expensive and a cheap coin
Worked example
- MACD line
- +168.11
- Signal line
- +139.67
- MACD histogram
- +28.44
- Price vs SMA(200)
- +205.3%
A positive histogram means upward momentum right now. The "MACD line" row shows the zone: below zero it is an early turn, above zero — confirmation of the rally. "Price vs SMA(200)" adds the long-term backdrop.
