The funding rate is a periodic payment between longs and shorts on a perpetual future. A positive rate means longs pay shorts — the market is crowded long. A negative rate is the reverse. This page collects the Bybit pairs whose rate has moved furthest in either direction.
Rates are normalized to 8 hours: on Bybit some pairs settle funding every 8 hours, others every 4 or 1, and the same number at a one-hour interval costs eight times as much. That makes them directly comparable.
Extreme funding often precedes a reversal: the market eventually charges for a one-sided crowd. But on its own it is not a signal — it is one input to read alongside price and open interest.
How to use this
8h rate
The rate normalized to an 8-hour interval — the only form in which pairs with different settlement periods are comparable. Plus means longs pay, minus means shorts pay.
APR
What holding the position costs over a year at the current rate and settlement interval. A dash means the settlement interval is unknown.
What next
The funding screener catches rates like these across the whole market and sends a notification, instead of waiting for you to open a table.
Questions about Bybit funding
How often do the rates update?
Every minute, along with the rest of the market data. The rate itself changes at the funding settlement — one to eight hours apart depending on the pair.
Why are rates normalized to 8 hours?
So pairs with different settlement intervals can be compared. A one-hour pair’s raw rate and an eight-hour one cannot sit side by side — they are about different amounts over the same time.
What do positive and negative rates mean?
Positive — longs pay shorts (longs outweigh). Negative — shorts pay longs (shorts outweigh). The further from zero, the stronger the imbalance.
Can I get these rates as a notification?
Yes. The funding screener watches for extremes and sign flips across the whole market and sends a signal to Telegram or the browser, without an exchange API key.
